The vision is one that consumes the imagination. As you walk through the home -- it seems more like a mansion -- the thoughtful appointments sparkle inside spacious majesty and precision. You think to yourself that the price tag surely exceeds a 7 digit figure. Yet, it is only $559,999. You stop and pinch your arm to make sure that you're not dreaming. But, the pain in your arm confirms the reality that is found at 14631 Charter Walk Court, Midlothian, VA 23114-4694; located just off of Route 288 at the Woolworth exit. ![]() Built by Ryan Homes, this Crestview model is the only one of its kind at Charter Walk. However, after the owner finished adding extravagant appointments, it might be more than fair to say that this particular home is the only Crestview of its kind - period! Finished Basement or Theater?I seriously have trouble referring to this part of the house as a finished basement. With a cavernous 1550 square feet, you could hold a concert, a dance, or any other civic event - although I'm sure the owner prefers large parties and small social gatherings. As if that just was not enough, there is an additional 900 square feet of storage area adjacent to the recreation room. The recreation room is illuminated by 17 recess lights, a lighted ceiling fan, an upgraded pool table light, stage lights, and a fancy bar light fixture. ![]() The 9 foot ceiling adds depth to a room that already rivals the Houston Astrodome, while the chair railing, plantation blinds on all windows, walk-out basement, and thoughtful color schemes contribute to the opulent atmosphere often found at the abodes of royalty. I was tempted to think someone was trying to turn this area into a swanky restaurant when I saw the 8 foot galley kitchen. Here, you'll dazzle your guests - and yourself - with silestone counter and bar tops, Kraftmaid cabinets, a refrigerator, ice machine, sink & faucet, and dishwasher. And we haven't even started talking about the REAL kitchen, yet! The room has 2 audio zones for those concerts and dance functions we spoke about, earlier. And the audio system can be controlled by the $20,000 HAI System via the basement panel. Speaking of the HAI system... Captain Kirk Lives HereThis house features the state-of-the-art HAI System. Using 3 well-placed panels, the HAI System allows the owner to control audio, HVAC, lights, and security through the user-friendly, Windows-like interface. Let's say you are in your master suite and getting ready for bed. You realize you left the lights on downstairs. The HAI panel allows you to turn off the lights downstairs without leaving your master suite. What if you are at work and realize that you forgot to activate the security system? No problem - The HAI system is accessible through your cell phone and allows you to perform the same functions found on the panel. You could be in China and still control all of these systems! Two Master BedroomsHave you ever gotten tired of the same old bedroom? Well, that's not a problem in this home because you have a master suite on the first floor, as well as, the second floor. If your mood changes, you can move upstairs. Maybe you feel more comfortable upstairs in the winter and downstairs in the summer. What if you want an extra master suite for in-laws? Or guests? Whatever your needs or desires, this house offers the flexibility to adjust master bedrooms as you please. The primary master suite is located on the first floor at the end of a private hall. Upon entering the master suite, you immediately get the sense that you know how Kings and Queens must feel. The color coordination looks like it was done by a professional - and probably was - because the colors bring out the brilliant, glossy white millwork found in the details. A majestic tray ceiling, artistic crown molding, additional crown molding outside of the tray ceiling, and imaginative columns that border the sitting area clarify the notion that all this was done by an interior decorator of the highest caliber. There are plantation blinds on all windows, of course! ![]() Despite the traditional feel of aristocracy, the room features a thoughtfully placed HAI panel, CAT 5 network connection w/phone jack and a lighted ceiling fan. Audio speakers in the bed area, as well as, the sitting area make it possible to fill your ears with ambient sounds and music that compliment the beauty of the room. The audio speakers in the sitting area are mounted inside the vaulted pentagonal ceiling. Two walk-in closets and neutral carpet add convenience and comfort to an already perfect bedroom. The beauty does not stop when you enter the master bathroom. Ornate tile flooring matches the tile that surrounds the garden tub. A separate shower also boasts matching tile floor and walls. There are three recess lights in the ceiling and plantation blinds on the window. His and her vanity with cherry wood cabinets and drawers are stunning underneath light fixtures that are fixed just above the mirror. Yet, another audio speaker proves that you will never lack music. The upstairs master bedroom will not disappoint you. Fast internet access is possible via the CAT 5 network connection. A Palladian window, neutral carpet, and blinds on the windows add to the décor. The master bath features upgraded tile floors and a vanity with cherry cabinets and light fixtures. Kitchen, Breakfast Area and Family RoomIf you like a large, modern kitchen with all the upgrades, you will NOT be disappointed. The giant 7 X 4 foot granite counter top island has lots of cabinet space underneath. Aside from the huge kitchen island, granite is found on all other counter-tops. All stainless steel appliances and a double oven look spectacular nestled in with the vast array of glazed maple cabinets and compliment the upgraded tile floors and crown molding. A flat cook-top, built-in microwave, double sink, and walk-in pantry bring joy to cooking. ![]() Despite the upgrades, the whole kitchen has a high-tech feel with 8 recess lights, audio speakers, television connection, and what??? There's that HAI (Home Automation INC) panel, again! From the kitchen, you can glide into the grand morning room for your gourmet breakfast. Upgraded tile floors flow from the kitchen. Plantation blinds on all 6 large windows allow you to tailor the flow of sunlight. French doors lead to the deck. A Palladian window adds a touch of class along with the lighted ceiling fan, vaulted ceilings, crown molding, and audio speaker. The family room is bright and spacious thanks to the 18 foot ceiling, 4 recess lights, two eyeball recess lights, and 6 large windows. Three of the windows are Palladian and located near the ceiling. These, also, have solar film to control the ultraviolet rays. The other three windows below have plantation blinds. If you desire even more lighting, the center of the ceiling is wired for a lighted ceiling fan. The stone fireplace reaches to the top of the ceiling and works with the Berber carpet to add warmth and comfort. The built-in surround sound is wired so that audio equipment can be stored neatly in the coat closet. Because of this, the wires that connect the flat screen TV to the audio speakers and equipment are NOT visible. If you're thinking that all of these things make the house sound big; well, you are right! This home displaces at a whooping 5404 square feet, if you include the basement. If you're not careful, you might get lost in this mega-home. But, then again, with all this beauty and comfort - who wants to be found? By featured writer, Stuart Bice |
